11 months ago I would not have given a second thought to turning on a violent television show, or movie. Now as my son begins to become aware of the world around him, I too am starting to awaken to what has really been placed before my eyes. Are those things true? right? lovely?

This article has a lot to say about this, even without being especially religious, and while I have never been one for slasher films, it sure made me think of what I unintentionally put in my child’s mind.

Lately people around me who should know better cannot seem to grasp the concept of God’s Grace, and not the living like you have been given grace, but rather the more basic concept that you cannot do anything to earn the Grace of God. Why is it so hard to accept something that we have not, and cannot earn?

Since the launch of tbdnation.com I am changing what my original purpose was for this blog. I will still discuss things that I feel like talking about after I have taught class, but for the actual discussion of a lesson you should head over to the message boards at the site, in addition I will be discussing things of a more serious and spiritual tone then on my other blog cityofblindinglight.wordpress.com. Micah 7 starts in the depths of despair, with Israel captured and destroyed, but the tone of the chapter does not stay there, instead it looks towards the hope and promise that God has given his people.

The chapter does not discount Israel’s sin, nor the consequences for said sin, but it does remind Israel, Judah, and us, that our focus, our hope, needs to be God.

Our daily lives reflect where our hope is. If our focus is on something other then God, that can be reflected in our lives. In other words, what we invest our time and energy in displays where our hope is.
